Agriculture Shapes Young LivesBy Colleen Nelson

An East Austin farm use sustainable agribusiness to avail transform the lives of young people in the community .

Urban Roots takes on a group of 14 to 17 year old interne every spring to avail urge on growth during each leg of the land unconscious process . The Core Youth Program ’s goal is to   give teens real world work experience through the husbandry business .

Blake Hill , farm coordinator , said that the project is not just about the community of interests supporting agribusiness . “ Not only do you get a share of our harvest , but you also are supporting a programme that helps these young multitude , ” Hill say .

Through Department of Agriculture workshops , irrigation , transplanting , and world-wide grounds keeping , members of the spring chicken program pull ahead insight into how a material world business is run .

Interns also memorize about public address through informing others about their work and the importance of sustainable agriculture . The public speech production experience is valuable to kids like 16 - year - old Shamar Brown . “ Urban Roots has help me personally because I require to be a attorney when I grow up , ” Brown said . “ The public speaking skills that I have instruct here will serve me in the court elbow room one day . ”

Urban Roots is pitch up for April , when they sell their spring harvest at various farmers markets around the field . Here , farm medical intern will interact with client and partake in what they have learned through the platform .
