The end of summer is a good time to evaluate what grew well in the garden and make a few notes for next season. Here’s my tomato roundup for 2016.

At the end of every season I wish to look back and evaluate which works arise well in the vegetable garden , just in instance I ’d wish to imbed them again in the future . I ’ve already evaluated thepepper crop , so now it ’s time to rick to the top tomato for 2016 .
The winner in my garden wasAmana Orange . I ’ve grown these love apple before — and gain ground prize for them — and they ’re still a favorite . Amana Orange is an heirloom , beefsteak - type tomato plant that has the proper balance of sweet and sharp-worded for me . I also love this tomato ’s orange color and the fact each one can grow to over 1 punt . A single slice can fill a salad plate .

Black Krimis another must - have heirloom tomato in my veggie garden . This class ’s crop of Black Krim tomatoes did n’t produce as many as in the past times , but I blame the fickle weather condition . The tomato plant I harvested were still big and tasty . And I saved many of the seeds for next year .
Tiny Timtomatoes defy expectations based on their name . These ruddy heirlooms are orotund than a distinctive cherry red love apple and they have sound flavor , too . The “ bantam ” in their name must look up to the size of it of the plant because it grows to only a ft improbable , but raise a unbendable crop of tomatoes through the time of year .
Green Grapeis another heirloom that I enjoy because it was so different . Much larger than a typical grape , these greenish tomatoes look lovely in a hanging basket . I know they were ready to pick when they started changing color from bright green to a greenness with an gold hue . I liked slice these to top salads because they added another color to the mixture .

Costoluto Genoveseis an Italian heirloom love apple with a smart taste and unusual build . This tomato has flute edges that make it a lovely slicer . It also makes a nice cooked tomato to use for a slimly tart alimentary paste sauce .
Two pint - sized Lycopersicon esculentum were extremely prolific when grown in containers . SweetieandCandylandgrew on marvellous works and always had plenty of tomatoes for clean . These bit - sized tomatoes each had good tomato taste , although a petty on the sweet side . I may stick with only one currant - sized Lycopersicon esculentum in the future tense . It was unmanageable to keep up with peck them at the tiptop of the season .
