The end is in mountain ! It seems hard to believe that on the dot two months and eight day ago , the first bit of earth was scraped away to make direction for our Simple House Project at the farm .
In those short 70 daytime , we have gone from a pile of dirt – to now sitting on our semi - consummate back porch deep every evening dream of a full - fourth dimension life at the farm .
There is still much to do in the final 41 day before our target area move in date of September 1st , Well … actually , a tremendous amount still to do ! But for a dream 5 yr in the making , every 24-hour interval of work seems a mint more like fun than anything else .
This weekend was dedicate to stain the porch level , build the kitchen island , and framing up the bathroom cabinet .
All of course while go on to scrub the garden for this year ’s pest of the year – the love apple hornworm . Yes – we still always make sentence for the garden ! 🙂
The coming hebdomad is set for the last rough electric and plumbing inspections , and hopefully the go - ahead to insulate if all is fall . After that , it will be time for us to start instal the shiplap walls and ceilings , utilise the acid dirt to the concrete floors , set up the kitchen cabinets , and of course – move in !

May 20th – The ground is leveled off , and the footer are poured for the understructure of the foundation . The straightforward cutout in the middle is the deep post footer for the chief beam of light in the eye of the house .
The Simple House as it stands on July 16th , 2016 . The outside is all but complete , only take the gutter and a few concluding touches before final grading .
