“ I wholeheartedly believe that the Earth would be a kind , more understanding and joyful office if we all had a diminutive homestead to wish for , ” says Telo Anderson from theGoose Pond Homesteadin Poynette , Wisconsin .
Running the venture in tandem bicycle with her husband Travis , the homestead focuses on offer a mixing of rainbow eggs , seasonal produce and hand - craft small goods . There ’s also a farm tie-up , which helps forge connection with the local residential district .
“ We ’re building an multitudinous amount of priceless skill that not only gain our kin and our homestead , but also gain our friends , category and residential district , ” says Anderson as she reflects on her family ’s adventures in homesteading to date .

We spoke to Anderson about building up the homestead and caring for poulet . We also make into the joys of adding Snapdragons to the land .
An Invitation to Homesteading

“ I owe my interest and aspiration for homestead to my husband , Travis , ” says Anderson , recall how her interest in Goose Pond Homestead began . “ He planted our first garden all by himself . I glean and cooked the bounty for our little household . ”

Welcome to the Chicken Clubhouse
The homestead ’s resident poultry reside in a converted barn that ’s been knight the Chicken Clubhouse .
“ They may have ‘ bird brains , ’ but their intelligence and personality are not to be lowball , ” order Anderson . “ They remember their favourite people , foods and nesting spots and know how to safely put themselves to bed each dark .
“ I find the members of our Chicken Clubhouse to be full of joy and intellect . ”
A Goofy & Entertaining Flock
In worldwide , Anderson qualify the chickens on the homestead as “ goofy and entertaining . ” She says they merrily follow her around like puppy . They hop-skip up and down to nosh on lowly offshoot fruit and enjoy sprawl out to bask in the sun .
“ Oh , and detritus bathe ! ” she adds . “ I always find it enthralling that crybaby clean themselves with grime . It ’s so entertaining to see dirt flying in the air , land on their bodies and magically rid them of bothersome pests . ”

Spotlight on Snapdragons
Alongside the chickens and the produce , Goose Pond Homestead hosts a vivd array of flowers . It turns out this was Anderson ’s first twelvemonth attempt to grow cut blossom .
“ I am most proud of my Snapdragons because they are originate from seeds that literally look like specs of dirt , ” she says . “ When I first planted their semen I was n’t very surefooted that they would sprout . But I ’m thankful to say that they did !
“ Those footling glasses of grease - similar seed are blooming to spirit with such vibrant happy vividness . ”
A Caring Sharing Farm Stand
In 2020 , Anderson added a farm stand to bring an excess element to the homestead . She calls it her “ pet creative outlet ” and explain how it ’s “ one of the honest ways to apportion our homestead with the residential area . ”
The farm stand offer seasonal produce , homemade goods and rainbow testis .
“ Each year I find myself add at least two raw items that are either made on our homestead or made in Wisconsin , ” she says . “ We are already needing more way for all our goodies ! ”
