Over a year ago I decided to tackle this web log with all my might . have me give you a little ground on how it came to pass .
( scene blurs out in a all ready-made flashback sequence / soppy medicine begins )
FloridaSurvivalGardening.com started as a web site plan on Apple ’s iWeb .
After being encourage to jump further into garden piece of writing and pedagogy by my friend rycamor ( who postedthe awesome guest post on pumpkinsearlier this week ) , I bribe the sphere in March of 2011 , started post via their blog place template , then quickly got dun with the deficiency of flexibleness or vane instrument useable . I also had endless problems with the comment locomotive , could n’t measure my traffic , happen carry a pain in the neck thanks to the whole “ upload to server ” stuff … then finally got ticked off and basically quit .
I ’m not a great tech guy cable or an html whiz .
At some point in 2012 , I shared my frustrations with my booster and fellow writer / instrumentalist / creative nutKevan Chandler .
His suggestion ?
“ Why do n’t you make it die hard through Blogger or WordPress with a redirect setup ? ”
“ Can I do that well ? ”
Kevan assured me it was simple , then direct me a uncanny firearm of medicine he ’d just register , along with a story about gangster snake god in space , the canvas medicine for an opera house he ’d composed while razz on The Orient Express , which was further follow by a painting of him lying on the ground covered in ketchup and awkwardly sprawl out as if he ’d been run over by a car ( this succession may be an exaggeration … but not by much ) . After I reassemble my skull , I got to work getting the situation ported .
I love I require to share my gardening knowledge and my ongoing experiments with a unspecific audience ; yet my achiever rate on maintaining any project long - term was only so - so .
fundamentally , if it did n’t give me anything and if it did n’t have a deadline , I was probable to overleap it . I share this with my married woman and during the conversation I made a conclusion .
ME:“I’ll post daily . This will just be my biography . For a year . intend I can do it ? ”
RACHEL:“I do n’t have it off . ”
ME:“Just say yes . And encourage me to keep it travel . ”
RACHEL:“Yes ! ” ( big cheesy smile ) you may do it ! ”
ME:“Do you really mean it ? ”
RACHEL:“If I say ‘ no ’ it will break the spell ! ”
ME:“I think I ’ll just stake on weekday . That gives me a piddling flexibleness . ”
RACHEL:“Can I block grin in an encouraging manner now ? ”
That interchange was almost completely fabricated , but you get the distributor point .
My admirer rycamor provided a little tinder … I lit a match … then burned out until Kevan relit the fire … and Rachel pushed me over the edge into a full - on challenge .
Once I had the first calendar month of posts in the travelling bag , I take root into a beat that carried me all the means here .
And where is here ?

See that ? During my first calendar month I got 800 pageviews .
This month , I ’ll get around 14,000 . Nice growth vogue .
Of course , pageviews do not necessarily equal lector . Some of them are from wanderer and weird sites overseas that have nothing to do with horticulture . However , I know my traffic from real people is pretty good . I ’ve made acquaintance with a bunch of you over the last year and have been interacting regularly with cool family from Florida and beyond . Thanks to readers on this blog I ’ve been sent seeds and cuttings in the mail , satisfy some of you in mortal ( Jeanand her husband visited this week ) , took a great position withThePrepperProject.comand even get to write for Mother Earth News .
Beyond that , I started my own plant life nursery and have made a minuscule act of modification by selling cassava starch press cutting through the mail .
So … hard work does pay off . And this has been a lot of hard work . But it ’s also been one of the most substantial projects I ’ve ever taken on .
You ’re the reason it ’s a success . I want to start naming figure , but I would detest to miss anyone . Look at my blogroll … many of my encouragers are settle there .
