The Annual Assembly of National Representatives has elected Marko Pomerants from Estonia new International Peatland Society ( IPS ) President for the period 2020 - 2024 . Mr. Pomerants will start his position on 13 December 2024 .

Dear members , dear partners and stakeholder ,
First of all , I would care to thank my herald , Mr Gerald Schmilewski , President of the IPS , and the intact Executive Board , who has bring IPS here . I do n’t have metre to uprise as slow as peat mosses do , so I call to do it much faster . I will get down by arrange up routine , of form the people of peat must have the right to summer holidays , but then I must establish the closer relationships with National Committees , Commissions and expert groups .
I believe that IPS will require a stronger position on the outside arena , with improved benefits for members and strong organisational funds . I am confident that , together with the Executive Board and Secretariat , this will be possible .
The IPS strategy period is occur to its end . It will be necessary to compile a new scheme for our society in the come months . More significantly , the strategy must be carry out . Today , environmental issues are the most salient all over the human race especially in the EU . It is important for us to be able to preserve sober mindset and call on the various political party to engage in knowledge - based , not aroused discussion .
I am personally characterized by painstakingness , self - initiative and a creditworthy attitude to budgetary funds . I am a leader who is fain to channelise the organization in times unspoilt or defective , often taking the initiative myself . Thank you to everyone who has supported my candidacy .
