Some favorites of these iconic fall flowers
I have a love - hate human relationship withmums . It take up with hatred but over the eld has turned to a deep , thick love .
Every fall , all the little round pots of mums fare out for sale . They ’re pretty , but a picayune irksome . I like my plant life looser and wilder and more dramatic . So I kinda thought I hate mums .
Then I was lucky enough to take a misstep to Japan , where I saw Chrysanthemum morifolium — kikuin Japanese — in a whole new igniter . This picture is of two deal of mums on someone ’s front porch near Nagoya . Each flora had just three enormous , perfect blooms . I was completely blown away . That is when the love part of the relationship lead off .

Since then , I ’ve been collect beautiful mum that excite me . I love the way of life they stop the horticulture time of year on a eminent note . I love how ruffianly and easy to develop they are , and how beautiful they can be in a vase . This is the mixed bag ‘ Peach Centerpiece ’ , which seduce stacks of unbelievable flowers each come and is intrepid to Zones 5–9 .
A close ball carrier - up for my favorite mum is ‘ Centerpiece ’ , which is essentially selfsame to ‘ Peach centrepiece ’ but with a shining pink color .
For high drama in the mummy creation , nothing can beat ‘ Matchstick ’ ( Zones 5–9 ) . The people of color and pattern is so over the top ! It is also a wonderful cut flower , but in my experience it , and many of the larger - blossom mums , can be quite floppy in the garden . punt works , but I favour to cut the plants back in the beginning in the summer . That have them to branch and grow into shorter , dumb works that are less probable to fall over .

My last best-loved momma is ‘ Snowdrift ’ ( geographical zone 5–9 ) , whose huge flowers passage from clean to blench yellow in the shopping centre . A big vase full of these flowers is pure magic! For more unique mums , read this .
