Unfortunately , I have n’t come across many keen Book that are for Florida alone . There is , of course , Florida Gardening by Stan DeFreitas , which isthe Word of God that first got me goingmany year ago – but I do n’t necessarily recommend that as a large resourcefulness for food grower .

A good place to come out look up Florida plants and how to produce them is , of class , theUF / IFAS / EDIS / HIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ , otherwise love simply as theElectronic Data Information Source of the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension .

There ’s a hunt bar there , which you ’ll want since the situation is not at all intuitive . In fact , it ’s often easier to just typecast in something like “ invasive giant snake - like weedy vine thingy with stinky bloom IFAS ” into Google and go for for the best .

Here are a few of my go - to books :

Toensmeier ’s authoritative look at veggie you ONLY HAVE TO PLANT ONCE . Many of the selection are perfect for Florida ; in fact , reading this book is likely to make temperate gardeners cry .

I advocate any gardener read these . I take care at buying strong-arm copies of great horticulture books as part of my insurance policy plan for the future tense . If things collapse , I ’ll still have my books and the knowledge therein . What may seem like a big leverage now may look dirt cheap in the future when you really take to get some food on the table .
