Growing things helps!
Today we ’re in Williams Lake , British Columbia , Canada , visit with Kim Herdman .
The year 2020 was very stressful for everyone with the pandemic , and for us the pandemic just made everything that challenged us that much bad . Michael had to be hospitalise numerous times and even air - ambulanced to Vancouver ( seven hr away ) for a calendar month . The stress of his shape for me was only made bearable by the garden . I had to do many of the jobs he commonly did and even had to hire a vernal , strong teen boy to help oneself get some really vainglorious job done . I think it was the garden and seeing it that avail Michael to keep going even when doctors impart up hope on him .
This is one of the big jobs that was wind up with the help of a strong teenage son ! Thesitting areawas flesh out as well as the path into it . Something to think about when designing : physical ability and safety . Funny how when you age or get struck with sickness or disability , you realize that the once - hugger-mugger path is not so practical !

Before the construction to enlarge the sitting surface area and itinerary into it , this is how the country search . Definitely not enough room for anyone with mobility issue .
The voluptuousness of plants that go wild!Self - seedingis a bonus that gardeners should appreciate . Last yr saw so many ego - seed babies after we were away for the whole 2019 time of year that I gave away carload . It seemed like there was an endless provision .
I am so beaming that after three years my ‘ Space Coast Seashells ’ daylily(Hemerocallis‘Space Coast Seashells ’ , Zones 3–9 ) finally blossom .

Spending time with grandkids is our greatest joy , and they always have so muchfun in the garden , whether it is playing with piddle or rocks or helping me “ whack ” the plants whendeadheading . And digging murphy was like finding buried gem !
bloom of springare herald of promise .
Seeing beauty just helps take all the maintenance away .

My act at planting the veggie . It was a wicked class for hemipterous insect , lick , cabbage insect , and carrot maggot . But that is garden . You ’ve always get to opine next year will be better . And that is a good mantra for all of us : next could be skillful . I am so looking forwards to saying goodbye to COVID . Hopefully we will all take forth the deterrent example that we have watch and will go on to produce .
I grewsquashup the rampart ! It saved space , and because it was such a cool , showery year , the plant produced more and had no pest .
