Chicago gardener layers perennials for continuous color
Today ’s photo come from Pallavi Divekar of Chicago .
I started this hobby around 2008 after being in my house for three years and watching what was blooming in the yard . There were boxwoods and evergreens in the front railway yard , and wild apple tree , birches , and pines in the backyard . There were absolutely no flowers , except a few tulip and iris diaphragm that bloomed in spring . That ’s when I decided to add more colouration to the yard . My garden has evolve out of the hard body of work and patience I ’ve put in over the last nine years . I am so gallant that I do all the digging , tearing , fertilizing , and planting without any assist . Over the years , I ’ve learned the prank of having tulip and daffodils for spring , lilies for summertime , and mums for declivity in the same area . Planting perennial that survive Chicago ’s cold and learning about new plant life has been quite interesting .
Some hostas , phlox(Phlox paniculata , zone 4–8 ) , and other perennial , with coloured annuals in container . This spot is insure by red and yellow tulips in give .

Daisies(Leucanthemum × superbum , zone 5–8 ) and echinacea(Echinacea purpurea , Zones 3–9 ) at the mailbox , which are cover by mums in fall .
The backyard smirch for yearly , which is my family picture billet for my parties .
The lovely purple phlox add dish to the front grounds by multiplying each twelvemonth . I have separate them in several spot in the front pace .

The bench is my relaxation spot , where I go to sip my loving cup of tea leaf in the aurora or evening and to watch the clouds , birds , and butterflies with that cool breeze and peace around .
My grandmother was a passionate nurseryman , and we had so many fruit and heyday trees back home in India that we scarcely bought any bloom from the market for any rituals where we offered flowers to god .
My dad says I get my nan ’s factor for certain . This smirch was full of pine trees that move around chocolate-brown and had to be thin out down . I engraft perennial to occupy the space .
