Final notes of the garden symphony
Today we ’re in Rotterdam , New York , visiting with Maxine Brisport .
Each yr I gaze in wonderment of the beauty that deck my upstate New York garden — from the smart as a whip yellow of the goldforsythiashrub that separate me that leap has get , to the dish of the white - and - pinkanemonesignaling that fall is looming . Now I am get up myself to offer goodbye to another class of resplendent blooms , with the gratification that I nurtured each works as it battled one of the hottest summertime , while feed the bees andbutterflies .
Although the bright blooms are fading , the joy of bang that they will take back next class make an endless grin .

C. P. Snow - on - the - mountain ( Euphorbiamarginata , annual ) is a widespreadNorth American aboriginal . The small white flowers are not very detectable , but the white - edged bracts that border them make quite a beautiful show .
Thelate summer gardenis beautiful , with so much variety of color andtexturefrom a wide scope of perennials .
That ’s a gorgeous shade of blue . This type ofhibiscus(Hibiscussyriacus , Zones 5–9 ) is a shrub that blooms heavily from mid to late summertime .

Adahlia(Dahliavariabilis , Zones 8–10 or as a tender bulb ) blooms just opening . Dahlias always seem to reach peak flower right at the end of summertime .
Could this unfurling rosebud be any more perfect ? Often the cool temperature of other fall allowrosesto show off their very safe .
I love the diversity of this garden . TallJoe Pye weed(Eutrochiumsp . , Zones 4–9 ) blooms in the back , with cloud of mordant - eyed Susans ( Rudbeckiafulgida , Zones 3–9 ) flowering away in front . A sheer orange canna ( Cannahybrid , Zones 8–10 or as a legal tender bulb ) provides a contrast in grain in the marrow .

A closer look highlight the contrasting textures and color of foliation and flowers .
An inviting path is flank byhostasand black - eyed Susans .
A couple of feathered friends enjoy a bath .

ThisSedum‘Autumn Joy ’ ( Zones 3–9 ) is living up to its name with flock of pink blossom that pollinators love and will transform into brown seed heads that will search in force all wintertime .
We ’ll be back tomorrow to see more of Maxine ’s beautiful garden .
