Fall flowers
Today we ’re in Arthur Baugh ’s garden in Raleigh , North Carolina .
dreary mistflower ( Conocliniumcoelestinum , Zones 6–9 ) grows among wild painted leaf ( Euphorbiacyathophora , annual ) . A relative of the conversant poinsettias used for vacation medal , untamed poinsettia is an yearly native to a wide belt of North America . The red practice on the bracts around the flowers is elusive but beautiful .
Japanese fiber banana ( Musabasjoo , Zones 6–10 ) is the most cold Oliver Hardy of the bananas and can even overwinter outside in Zone 5 in the proper spot , specially if you give it extra insulate mulch over the winter . It grows speedily in the heat of summertime to make a dramatic tropic effect .

Hurricane lilies ( Lycorisradiata , Zones 6–9 ) get their name for their habit of popping up into dramatic bloom in late summer , the peak of hurricane season . They are also forebode “ surprised lily ” because the efflorescence pop up amazingly from the bulbs before the leafage come out . These are tough , long - survive , and pest - resistant bulbs determine commonly in older gardens and around old sign of the zodiac in theSoutheast .

Going by the common name of strawberry mark bush or hearts - a - burstin’,Euonymusamericanus(Zones 6–9 ) is anative shrubwith small , greenish flower that give fashion to these incredible colourful fruits in the fall .
