A beautiful giant Allium ‘ Gladiator ’ blooms in the front yard garden . Too unfit the honey bees arrive in a week , ( we bought two hive – the only bee we ’ve seen have been bumblebees this year . ordinarily , the Allium are swing with bee .
hoi polloi who know me , often notice that they do n’t eff how I do everything , and others – those who know me well , really know that mostly , I complain , that I ca n’t get anything done . Friday , when I labor home from the office , I decided to make a tilt of everything I wanted to get done – then , Saturday it rained , and then severe electrical storm fellate through near the end of the day , so I unplugged my compter , and deck the list . Besides , what seems like a mode to perhaps get thing done on Friday , on Saturday , the listing was so prospicient that it loomed over me . Tossing it mean that at least , I knew I would forget most of it by Sunday .
Sunday arrive , and after the spartan violent storm , the mean solar day start cloudless and brilliant . So for the heck of it , I decided to list everything I execute in the garden in one day .

1 . Direct Sown Annuals -seeded in the garden : Amaranthus -Love Lies BleedingAsclepias physocarpa ( Hairy Balls)Nicotiana glauca
2 . clean ( swept and hose off ) the nursery walk .
3 . I then prepared all 36 of the Dahlia which I begin root in the nursery two weeks ago , and face - up each name in the original catalogue , and prepared newfangled larger lables on wood lathe with the name , rosiness sizing and color . Then the Dahlia pinnata pots were relocate outside on the freshly cleaned glasshouse walk , to be harden off before engraft later in the week . Dahlias re - judge and placed open air to harden off before being planted in the garden

4 . Moved the remaining large tub of Camelia out of the greenhouse , and direct then in the ephemeral garden .
5 . Repotted two Camelia into large pots
6 . institute the Canna Phaison that I save from last year and started in the nursery a calendar month ago , into the Blue and Gold garden .

7 . Planted the last of the Colocasia in the Blue and Gold garden .
8 . Removed the last of the seed from the Cyclamen and clean house them , then fresh sowed them into gage , ready for watering in the fall . these were set in the sand bed , where the sand in just damp enough to keep them from dry out out completely .
9 . pot - up the Tuberous Begonias from Blackmore and Langdon , which were started into growth in peat crapper in the greenhouse . These 12 and ridiculously expensive Begonias were then potted up into 8 column inch Henry Clay slew and move onto a wire judiciary next to the Primula auricula collection .

10 . Potted - up the fiberous Begonias into tumid clay pots in the glasshouse .
11 . initiate vegetable seeds in 4 inch peat dope and place them in the greenhouse Baroness Dudevant bed , to shoot since the outside stain is still lower than 55 degrees . Pickling Cukes – PearlButternut squelch – Waltham ButternutZucchini – GoldenGourds – Ornamental mixedOkra – North and South Hybrid
12 . repot into big bathtub , a Beaumontia grandiflora ( the easter lily vine ) . Planted Brugmansia in the Martin home garden .

13 . Fixed the atomic number 30 pelting bbl and plant it behind the display of alpine troughs , where I fulfil it with water supply , so that I cold have easy access code to the rainwater water system which will roll up in there for watering the troughs , especially the gentian .
14.Moved the Aspidistras out for the summertime , under the magnolia trees .
15 . adopt cutting from some the the encrusted Saxifraga and planted them in pieces of Tufa rock’n’roll where others had croak . ( June is the skillful time to take Saxifraga cuttings , more will be done , later).A lovely tight bun of a silverish saxifrage planted and produce on a calc-tufa rock . Cuttings of Saxifraga planted in tuff grow more characteristically than those grow in soil . Also , I have fewer failures.16 . Cleaned the Freesia bulbs since they go dormant , and I involve the pot for some of the Begonias .
17 . Photographed some of the cactus which are blooming , as well as the Epyphyllum ( which we ’re also act outdoors to spend their summer hanging in the trees . Epiphyllum ‘ Vista Sun ’ bloom last night , and filled the glasshouse with its olfactory property . By good morning , the blossoms has begun to wilt , but live on most of the day . One wonders why one grow these plants , they bloom once a twelvemonth , and the flowers last a day . Since all the bud open up last night , we now have to wait 364 Clarence Day for another . Hmmm … we are crazy , are n’t we !
18 . Planted miniature shrubs in the alpine garden .
19 . Moved the declamatory bathing tub of potted Rosemarinus to the crushed rock circle with the Martin menage . This undertaking involved about a dozed gravid stool that will spend the summer in the circle , including the citrus , lemon , Murraya , the Tulbagia fragrans whicha re blossom now , the summer growing Nerine species , the Boophane , and the Ozmanthus.20 . Restaked the topiary Rosemary ’s , and repotted one into an italian pot .

( The fancy banana were all implant in the bed in front of the greenhouse Friday , along with the canna , calla , and rarer Colocasia varieties that come in the ring armor from Plant Delights Nursery a month ago . Dahlias will fill in the spread , after this calendar week .
So all in all , I judge thing did get done , Even though it feels as if I have a longer listing of “ affair to do ” . I suppose that will never deepen ! .
